The Library Empire Strikes Back

Could the Hall County Library System be run worse than Adrian Mixson runs it? I think NO it could not.

Adrian Mixson loves to blame the county for everything but keep in mind the library funding comes from the county and the state. A luxury that most people (departments) don’t have. This does not even include Adrian Mixson’s ability to apply for and win state and federal grants for the system. I hope the library employees and citizens of the county understand this fully. I hope when the employees see him and he says, “I wish the County would give me more money so I could pay you more.” that they roll their eyes and think what a poor leader and manager he is.

I wish the library board members would stand up to him and ask what he is doing to better the system. Right now he is doing nothing. He has not one advocate on the Commission Board for him. Even the 2 new commissioners won’t stand up for him because they know how bad he is. I never hear Adrian Mixson requesting to come to meet with the Commission either publically or privately to discuss the problems. He just does not seem to care. He runs his little library empire with what funding lands in his lap and blames the County for any problems he causes. Do you ever see Adrian Mixson complaining that the State does not give him adequate funding? No you don’t because the state doesn’t hear the complaints.

Believe me when I say that I have spoken to Library Board Members, County Commissioners, the County Grant Manager, library employees, State Legislators, and Adrian Mixson himself. This problem will not go away until Adrian Mixson leaves. He won’t leave until the Library Board wakes up and either makes him work hard or fires him. You the citizens of this county who are tired of going to the library and seeing it closed. Or worse it be closed due to furlough and they have locked the outside return boxes to further inconvenience you. You must stand up and tell people to stop complaining and start calling the Library Board. Contact info can be found here but I’m thinking of posting their personal contacts on here very soon. If you are really angry contact the State Librarian.

You forgot 1 other major funding source: donations through fundraising.

Why should I keep paying for an obsolete service (libraries) with my property taxes? It’s time for them to figure out how to pay for their Cadillac benefits plans some other way than hitting up the taxpayers. I know the county restored all furlough days, so it sounds like the employees are not county employees; maybe it’s time for the employees to report to the county.

The Libraries are still at it:

What is the deal with the Director being able to mouth off? I guess he is bullet proof. Hall County, this is what you get when you vote for SPLOST!

I can’t read 🙁 But I sure can look at pretty pictures. That must be why the Friends of the Library raised a lot of money and painted a big mural on the wall in the new North Hall Center. It’s a good thing too since our citizens would rather look at a painting than visit the library. Oh wait, isn’t the library closed on Saturdays? Excellent resource allocation, Friends.
