Any Reason to Have a Party

I have to say that in college we had that motto.  “any reason to have a party” !  That would seem to be the case here.

Hugh, however is going to miss this party for some news that  for some ridiculous reason he feels is more significant than a gathering to try yo recall a Hall County commissioner named Craig Lutz.   How naive of him.  A Space Shuttle mission  vs. a party to rally troops to sign  to remove  a county commissioner.   PFFFFT.

I will be there,  I wouldn’t miss this one for the world.  That is if there are more than just a few monkeys sitting around blabbing about how they hate a guy.  I am NOT sitting through that.

So you want to Vote Lutz off the island?  OK.  This web site won’t argue.  In fact we will get on board…  As soon as someone sends us or shows us some proof of wrong doing.  Although we may not agree with his methods or even ideas, that is not enough to displace him or anyone else.

Everyone has an opinion.  Some share the same opinion, but it is still just an opinion.   I just have to wonder what the opinions are of the silent majority.  I think that was clear during the last election.  The majority opinion?   Those that do not have time to follow the comments an the Times articles and those that don’t bother reading that rag.  It is no secret that that paper is damn near controlled by a particular Commissioner, so getting unbiased news is all but impossible.

So on with the Recall Rally…

The Truth

The beginning of the wishful end

We have already reported that recalls are almost an impossible task.  There is, however, a hard headed crew here in Hall County reportedly meeting this weekend to put together their recall committee.  Unfortunately, I am leaving town this Friday to hopefully see the last launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavor.

I will be counting on some of you to send your reports to the tip line,  We want to know the particulars.  From what I have seen on the  Times and heard on the radio, we have the loyal opposition, a Democrat in Michael Parker, and a member of the esteemed Tax Assessor’s Board, Bobby Hulsey.  With a quick search on Facebook you can find a group that has been put together with a whopping 27 members.  Assuming that all 27 live in South Hall and are registered voters, the group is over a quarter of the way to beginning the process.

We want to know how many Olivers, Banks and Sentors are at the meeting.  We want to know the complaints.  We want to know how much money you plan to raise.   We want to know all the details.  Don’t hold back.

I do find it interesting that the Democrat that ran against James Mills would be teaming up with a member of the Tax Assessor’s board.  In trying to find out a little more about Mr. Hulsey, I consulted my network (the armadillo hat club) to see his political allegiance.  From what I can tell, he doesn’t like many of the elected representatives from Hall County.   I heard that the only person he would probably like recalled more than Lutz is the Lt. Gov.  I have always heard that politics makes for strange bedfellows so we will have to see who all joins the cause.

Stay tuned….

Well said, Truth. No space shuttle launch for me. I am hoping to attend and learn the facts. Depends on if the Ole’ ball and chain can watch the kids for me. It always works out that way

I was insulted when you referred to the Times as a “rag”.

I use a “rag” when I clean my house. I would not say the same for the Times as the stench would be overwhelming even after I finished. Please choose your words wisely. 🙂

It will take some guts to sign the petition because the petition is an open record. I am looking forward to see who has the courage to sign the dotted line. This isn’t like going to the polls where it is a secret ballot; this will be a person writing their name on the dotted line.

it appears Mr. Hulsey is doing the bidding of Tom Oliver. How ironic that Hulsey would try to lead a recall on Lutz for spending too much Tax payer money when he voted to spend over two hundred thousand dollars on lawyer fees to go against Frank Norton and others just because he and the assessor board did not have the intelligence to sit down and discuss the appraisals on their properties. there is no oversite nor leadership on this board it is evident. Mr. Hulsey doesn’t have the intelligence God gave a hog when it comes to that office. we have seen Counties around us drop their appraisals by some 23-34% and what has the Hall County assessor department done? absolutely nothing. Mr Hulsey has voiced it abroad that his passion is politics , and it very well may be as he is no more intelligent than the so called political leaders in Washington. Hulsey stick to your weed pulling and lose some weight and maybe the pressure on your brain will decrease.

I heard that there wasn’t much of a meeting. I heard that half the people were Bell or Lutz supporters. Has anyone else heard any different?

Lutz break any laws? Maybe not. But I can vouch for the massive internal damage caused by the departure of Phil, and subsequent lack of leadership from Jock. The County lost, overnight, day-to-day business continuity. Projects cancelled or put on indefinite hold, department heads not receiving any support, personal agendas shoved into the power vacuum, employee rumors allowed to fester, businesses looking to come here backing out, expectations of massive turnover… I could go on.

No, laws were not broken, but the internal chaos and workforce calamity just starting will leave the County hurting for skilled and knowledgeable employees. Morale is in the sewer, fear of layoffs and add’l furloughs running wild, pay scales well below municipal averages… resumes flying out the door. There is nothing left to offer here. The replacement hires will quickly find they bought into the wrong place, so retention will be very poor. The eventual recovery will be long. Years of experience and knowledge lost. Projects killed and restarted later at greater expense.

No Lutz broke no laws, but the carnage on the County will be felt for many years. Poor Gibbs… played for a patsy, Bell only concerned with his personal career, and Lutz… well, I’ve met him and got the same impression others have since expressed…. the man is off his nut. An arrogant, power fiend with a complete lack of reasoning and little, if any, true enterprise experience despite his diplomas.

Proves that education only cures ignorance…. you know the rest.

Good comments Slipknot. From what I am hearing about the budget (over $11m gap), perhaps Lutz has a downsizing plan: piss off as many people in the county that he can so they just leave and the county doesn’t have to pay severance. Just a thought.
